           Tracking devices first got their start in 1974. Over the course of several years satellites were launched to transmit signals to the individual units giving detailed coordinates. These devices were used by military personnel but now are becoming a hot item in consumer markets. Cell phones are now being built with global positioning systems. Along with the other features of a cell phone, this addition is making the cell phone an ultimate device for everyday personal use. Verizon wireless has created a product called the VZ navigator which is installed into a personal cell phone for GPS use. Also At&t has teamed up with Garmin Nuvi for its own version of GPS. An outstanding feature of phone GPS devices is the ability to locate other phones which allows for easy finding of friends or family members.
