Motorcycle GPS

There are several types of Motorcycle GPS on the market right now a couple of them being the Garmin Quest 2 receiver, Zumo, and the TomTom Rider. The Rider global positioning system has high quality features such as a wireless headset and voice instructions inside the helmet. It is also waterproof, has user friendly software that allows pre-planning a route before your ride, and crystal clear graphics with a glove friendly screen. Because a motorcycle rides differently than a car it is more important to have a designed GPS that is more durable and able to withstand weather conditions than an automobile GPS. Other factors to consider are if your motorcycle GPS can hold up under major vibration, and road dust. Motorcycle systems are most effective hands free since the driving techniques differ from that of a car. Blu-tooth and voice activation are critical elements of a GPS to maximize safety. The battery power is important seeing as you can’t plug it into a cigarette lighter.
The Garmin Zumo offers some unique accessories. The GPS has an anti-theft device that is only functional after entering the 4 digit code. With XM subscriptions and an antenna you can check the traffic, weather, and listen to the radio. Voice activation gives street names and distance to destination commands that allow the driver to focus on the road. It also has a left-handed function. A motorcycle GPS that is lightweight may be removed from the bike and used for of road use such as hiking.
Higher class GPS will contain 2-way communications, up to 20 channels of reception, USB cables, and built in Mp3 players. SD cards or extra memory are good for uploading pictures, or other files making your GPS faster and better equipped with the most up to date maps.
