Lowrance GPS
According to www.lowrance.com the Lowrance company has been a world leader in manufacturing high quality sportfishing sonar and global positioning systems for more than 50 years. It distributes its products in 53 different countries worldwide.
In 1957, Lowrance actually introduced the world’s first sportfishing SONAR instruments capable of locating individual fish. It continually makes high speed products with liquid crystal displays for underwater fish detection coverage, operating at boat speeds up to 70 mph.
In 1995 Lowrance introduced the GlobalMap, the world’s first LCD product that integrated GPS, mapping and sonar into one unit. It has since revolutionized boating and fishing. Its affordable prices brought the first 12 channel hand held GPS for less than $200.
As of late, Lowrance has created the HDS high definition system. The Lowrance HDS creates less noise, and more targets than other fishfinders. HDS has incredible deep-water performance, expanded basemap marine detail, and Mavionics support available through software. With Sirius weather/radio as an option with HDS one can get services for coastal offshore and inland weather reports.
Lowrance has a foot placed in the door for automobile global navigation as well. The HDS-5 Baja Off-Road GPS chartplotter makes for a perfect fit for tighter, off-highway interiors. It comes with an enhanced U.S. Basemap and the largest selection of Chartcard options.
In 2009, Lowrance won the outdoor industry award for most powerful and complete outdoor GPS navigation experience. The Lowrance Endura Sierra is fully loaded with topographic maps with electronic compass and altimeter. The Endura Sierra has never before seen expansion capabilities with 4GB of internal memory and micro SD expansion slots. Since the Endura is customizable one may program public domain files and community-based content such as GPX trails and general points of interest. Complex maps sold separately located on micro SD cards can be used as accessories to the Lowrance Endura Sierra.
